Play is disappearing from the landscape of our society. This is creating a generation
not ready for school or the workforce.
Mara Kaplan is founder of Letkidsplay.com and is a nationally known expert on play and toys.
She was also one of the founding parents and served as Chief Executive Officer of the Center
for Creative Play® for 12 years.
Mara has two children, one of whom is severely developmentally delayed. She and five other
parents, who are raising children with disabilities, recognized the importance of play as a
learning experience for their children. Determined to create a place where children of all abilities
were welcome to play together they established the Center for Creative Play (CFCP), in
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1995.
Today, Mara is committed to connecting parents and children with creative and educational
toys which are the tools needed for play.
Mara has an elementary education degree and a minor in gifted education from Indiana
University in Bloomington, IN. She received her MBA, with a concentration in nonprofit
management, from Boston University.
